A central heating system provides warmth to the whole interior of a building from one point to multiple rooms. The warmth can be created by heating water or air and circulating it through pipes, underfloor heating and radiators or vents.

The boiler used to heat the water or air can be fuelled by natural gas, liquid petroleum gas (LPG), oil, solid fuel or electric, and consideration should be given to the best solution for the customer’s needs, property to heat, location and suitability. Consideration should also be given for the installation of renewable technologies.

The size and type of boiler can affect how much energy you use and how your home and hot water is heated. There are three main types of boiler, combination or combi as they are commonly known, conventional and system. The convectional and system boilers are very similar, selected for the type of system they are to be installed. All boilers provide hot water to send to your radiators.

The combination boiler can be an economical option. Although limited flow rates, it only heats the water you use at the taps or shower when you use it. The conventional and system boilers send hot water to a cylinder, sized appropriately for the customer’s needs, to provide your hot water from a tank.
